Prof. Dr. Michel MRF Struys is professor and chair at the department of anesthesiology, University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen, Groningen, The Netherlands. He is also affiliated (5%) as Professor to the department of Anesthesiology, Ghent University, Gent, Belgium. Prof. Struys' main reseach interest is in clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and drug administration technology, including inhaled anesthetics, target controlled infusion techniques and closed-loop systems. Additionally, he is working on the validation of various types of anesthesia monitoring and equipment and depth of anesthesia monitoring. Thus, an extensive collaboration with various biomedical engineering groups exists. He is actually Editor of the Britisch Journal of Anaesthesia and Associated Editor of Anesthesiology, the number 1 anesthesia journals in Europe and the USA, respectively. He is member of various national and international scientific organizations and is first or senior author of various publications and the author of multiple books and book chapters. | |
